Thermal Imaging provides several advantages over traditional machine condition monitoring approaches. Typical failure modes are mechanical and electrical systems that overheat for various reasons. Ball bearings are widely used in machinery and are one of the most common mechanical failure points on a machine. Bearings are exposed to a lot of mechanical stress and wear and tear. Despite being lubricated, the lubricant (oil or grease) does get contaminated over time with metal rub off from the balls rubbing against the cage of the ball bearing. Additional contaminants (dust, chemicals etc.) may enter the ball bearing and further contaminate the lubricant. Over time this leads to a degradation of the bearing and mechanical friction increases, which in turn causes the bearing to run much warmer. Electrical equipment isn’t any less likely to fail than mechanical equipment.
A thermal camera can monitor several ball bearings in one image and together with a monitoring system, provide an early warning. This helps to avoid costly and unscheduled shutdown. A machine condition monitoring system is a valuable asset for a preventative maintenance program.
The Machine Condition Monitoring Webinar will introduce the viewer on how to use the latest thermal imaging camera technology for condition monitoring. It introduces cost effective and scalable solutions for using thermal imaging cameras using MoviTHERM’s MIO Intelligent I/O Module. The MIO I/O module simplifies thermal imaging systems and eliminates the need for traditional PC-based architectures.
In this webinar you will learn:
- How to utilize thermal cameras for condition monitoring applications
- How to simplify machine condition monitoring systems using the MIO I/O module
- How to save money by avoiding costly and unplanned equipment breakdown
About the Presenter:
Mr. Markus Tarin, President & CEO, MoviTHERM
Mr. Tarin has studied Radio and Television Engineering as well as Embedded System Design in Germany, where he graduated in 1996. He has extensive experience with visible and non-visible imaging, especially in the Near Infrared (NIR), Shortwave Infrared (SWIR), Midwave Infrared (MWIR), and Long Wave Infrared (LWIR). Tarin was the lead architect on many development projects for defense, research, medical, and industrial applications. Through his company, he has commercialized many of these developments for remove monitoring, automated thermal imaging and non-destructive testing. MoviTHERM is a FLIR Systems, Inc. distributor and integrator.
