Protecting thermal or CCTV cameras from hazardous environments and combustible materials, such as gases, liquids and dust to prevent a potential ignition or explosion, requires special considerations.

These enclosures fall into two categories, either explosion prevention or explosion containment. More economical solutions typically involve the use of a purge and pressurization system for Class I/Div 1 and 2 and Class II/Div 1 and 2 and their respective sub groupings.
